Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Numaligarh, Assam on Sunday. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 12,000 crore. These include a bioethanol refinery and polypropylene plant, which will take the local economy to new heights.
Plan to reduce dependence on crude oil
PM Modi said that the government is taking big steps to free India from crude oil and gas imports. He stressed that India, which is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is now focusing on green energy and indigenous oil exploration. He described bioethanol as the future of energy, which will prove to be a boon for farmers and tribals.
Assam will become energy and semiconductor hub
The Prime Minister said that Assam will play an important role in the mission of self-reliant India. The new projects will not only bring self-sufficiency in the energy sector, but will also take Assam ahead in modern industries like semiconductors. Employment and development will be promoted at the local level.
Special focus on tribals and tourism
The PM reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of tribal communities. He said that the BJP government is working to make Assam a major center of tourism and trade. Also, land rights are being given to the deprived sections by removing encroachment.
Targeted Congress fiercely
Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress. He said that the policies of the Congress promoted insurgency and unrest in Assam. Also, infiltration was encouraged for vote bank politics. On the contrary, the BJP has accelerated development while respecting the culture and heritage of Assam.
Farmers and local people will benefit
The new bioethanol refinery will give farmers better income for their crops. At the same time, the polypropylene plant will strengthen local industries. The PM said that these steps will make Assam economically and environmentally strong.
