It’s good news for farmers in Haryana. The government, headed by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has introduced a relief package for farmers who suffered due to heavy rains and floods during the 2025 monsoon season.
As per the new system, electricity bill dues for all agricultural tubewell connection subscribers are to be deferred for a period of six months. This government decision will instantly relieve around 7.10 lakh farmers.
Free electricity supply from July to December — Pay later
Farmers will be able to use electricity without paying bills between July 2025 and December 2025. However, this amount will have to be paid later. Therefore, there will be no charges for six months and no disconnection of connections.
The Chief Minister said that natural disasters cause considerable losses to the agricultural industry and that it is the government’s duty to support farmers in such times.
New Payment Timeline
According to the Energy Department, the payment schedule will be as follows:
| Month (2025) | Payment Month (2026) |
|---|---|
| July 2025 | January 2026 |
| August 2025 | February 2026 |
| September 2025 | March 2026 |
| October 2025 | April 2026 |
| November 2025 | May 2026 |
| December 2025 | June 2026 |
During this period, no farmer will incur a late charge, and no action will be taken against any electricity connection.
The rural economy will also benefit
Experts say this move by the Haryana government will not only provide relief to farmers but also help restore economic stability in rural markets. With extra cash available, farmers can buy seeds, fertilizers, and equipment—boosting production in the upcoming season.
Who will benefit?
There are about 710,000 agricultural tubewell consumers in Haryana. The scheme is aimed at helping all farmers affected by floods or heavy rainfall during the monsoon. The government has made it clear that no farmer will be denied electricity due to unpaid bills.
