How is the scheme helping?
This scheme was started in 2008 by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The aim of it is to support talented students of economically weaker sections for further studies.
According to Sandeep Sindhu, mathematics expert and NMMS in-charge for Hisar district, the 55,001 applications reveal an inclination towards education both in rural and urban areas. He asserted, “This scheme is proving to be a boon for the economically weaker sections as it is helping many students continue their studies.”
